Master's Program

Welcome to the M.A. Program

Our M.A. programs offer professional training alongside more traditional instruction in the study of politics. We produce professionals who are well-equipped to wrestle with the enduring questions of everyday political life but we do so by providing a very sound theoretical background. Although many of our students embark on successful professional careers, a significant number of them choose to pursue a Ph.D. or a law degree, a clear indication of our commitment to provide our M.A. students with practical skills and sound theoretical knowledge.

Students pursue one of the following degree programs: a Master of Arts in International Relations; a Master of Arts in Politics; or a Master of Arts in International Relations and Journalism.

Students who pursue a Master of Arts in Politics in the traditional areas of specialization such as Comparative Politics, International Affairs, Political Economy, and Political Theory may also pursue a joint concentration in Political Economy Analysis with the NYU Alexander Hamilton Center or a concentration in International Politics and Business.

In addition, we offer two dual degree programs: an M.A./M.B.A. with the Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a J.D./M.A. with the NYU Law School

NYU’s rich resources support advanced professional training and education. Students and faculty in the M.A. programs participate in a wide range of seminars, workshops, and colloquia, making for a vibrant intellectual and professional community.

Located in the heart of New York City's Greenwich Village, NYU offers an unparalleled academic setting.  Home to many influential national and international institutions, New York City has a rich social and cultural life of which our students take full advantage.
